Some call me a genius, but I’m just your average nerd.

I first laid my eyes on Markstrat as an MBA student in 2012, and I instantly fell in love with the game. At that time I spent many weeks nerding out on regression analysis and utility curves trying to figure out what was the logic behind it.

My teacher must have seen the spark in my eyes because he invited me to become an assistant professor the following year. Since then, I have become a permanent Markstrat instructor and have run the simulation more than 100 times.

Every time I teach the course, I see the same spark I had in me being ignited in incoming students. Some of them have a great handle on the game but are still hungry for more details. Others don’t know what the heck is going on, but their competitive juices keep them asking questions. I thought would help them scratch that itch.

So I wrote the book I wish I had had back in the day. And if that was not enough, I launched my tutoring service.

I know in my bones I can help you rise above whatever circumstances you’ve got going on.

How do tutoring sessions work?

We get together over zoom and jump right into Markstrat. We will review your company performance so far and come up together with a sound strategy for your team. We will also make the decisions that will get you on track to realizing that strategy.

In the process, I will teach you the logic behind everything we do: how to read the market research reports, how to design products and how to set production levels, media investment, price and commercial teams.

How many tutoring sessions will I need?

Some teams only have one session to clear some doubts and check their overall approach to the game. Others want to have weekly check-ins throughout the simulation. The most common scenario is that teams need 2 or 3 sessions to really understand the Markstrat logic, and then are able to carry on proficiently on their own.

In the end, the decision is up to you. You can start by having one session, and then decide how to carry on.

Can you get me to win?

In most cases, YES.

But that ultimately depends on how many rounds you have left and how dire your team’s situation. For example, if you come looking for help with 2 rounds left and placed last in the game, jumping to first place is unlikely, but I can help you not to end up last. If you still have 5 o 6 rounds left, I most certainly help you to get to first position by the end of the game.
